Richard A. Loomis

Ordained: 1976

Richard A. Loomis is accused of abuse that allegedly took place between 1969 and 1971 and in 1974, while Loomis was a seminarian before being ordained as a priest.  Loomis was the former vicar for clergy of the Archdiocese who oversaw allegations of misconduct against priests and was a top aide to former head of the Archdiocese, Cardinal Roger M. Mahony. In 2014, the Archdiocese announced that a Vatican Tribunal determined that allegations of sexual misconduct against Loomis had not been proven. The archdiocese lifted its restrictions on Loomis and called him a priest of the archdiocese “in good standing.”
