George Neville Rucker

George Neville Rucker is believed to be the most prolific abuser in the Los Angeles Archdiocese with as many as 41 known accusers. His record of abuse began shortly after his ordination. Rucker is accused of rape of girls as young as 7. He was first investigated by police in 1967. Rucker was allowed to remain a priest after allegedly molesting dozens of girls from the late 1940s to the 1980s. And even after Rucker was forced to retire as a priest in 1987, he remained a chaplain until 2002, when the U.S. Coast Guard nabbed him fleeing on a cruise ship to Russia to escape criminal charges. A civil lawsuit was filed regarding Rucker in 1994. In 2002, he was arrested on charges involving 12 girls. The criminal charges were dropped due to the statute of limitations.
