Damien (Patrick) Chong
Damien (Patrick) Chong taught in Carmelite high schools from the 1960s until around 1991. He was then transferred to Chicago IL, where he served as a parish associate pastor and prior.
Chong was accused of abuse of a boy at Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, California between 1984 and 1986. The victim said Chong would sexually abuse him after football practice in Chong’s living quarters, sometimes plying him with alcohol. He alleged that abuse occurred at least 30 times.
In 1997, Chong moved to Peabody, MA, living at the Order’s priory and working at their “Chapel-in-the-Mall.” In 2008, Chong’s name was added to the Los Angeles diocese’s list of “names not previously posted.” Chong died in 2014.
