Fernando Lopez Lopez

In 2001, Fernando Lopez Lopez — a citizen of Columbia — was sent from Rome, Italy to St. Thomas the Apostle church in Los Angeles.  Before his arrival in California, there were reports of his misconduct in Rome. In 2004, he was arrested for sexually abusing a minor.  Three other victims were also found. Lopez was convicted in 2005 but the sentence was overturned by the appeals court.  In 2008, the California Supreme Court overturned the court of appeals, upholding the conviction and sentence.
