John Haberthier

John Haberthier began his career as a priest in the Diocese of Dodge City in Kansas, but served at parishes in the Diocese of San Bernardino from 1979-1980 and 1982-1987. In October of 2006, church officials became aware of an allegation that Haberthier sexually abused a minor in 1973 in Whittier, CA, and reported the allegation to the police and to parishioners in December of 2006. John Habethier died in Great Bend, KS, on December 28, 2009. In May of 2010, the Diocese of Dodge City put out a statement reporting that credible allegations of sexual abuse had been made against Haberthier. Haberthier is included on a list of priests credibly accused of sexual misconduct released by the Diocese of San Bernardino in October of 2018.
