Luis Jose Cuevas

Luis Jose Cuevas was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 2006. He was arrested in 2012 after two women and a 17-year-old girl reported that he had sexually assaulted them.  The teenage girl was 14 at the time of the assaults. Cuevas fled to Mexico, where he was arrested and extradited to Los Angeles.  He was charged with 8 misdemeanors plus one felony count involving lewd acts with a child.  He pled ‘no contest’ to the charges and was removed from St. Athanasius parish. In 2013, Cuevas was sentenced to five years probation and required to register as sex offender. In 2018, he was ordered by the Vatican to a life of prayer and penance.
