Robert J. Donat

A longtime teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School in San Bernardino, CA, Robert Donat retired from the priesthood in 2006. In 2011, five former students alleged that Donat sexually abused them when they were teenagers. It was reported that Donat would invite male students to spend the night at his rectory and that he would take them on road trips. Donat was stripped of priestly duties shortly after the allegations came to light. According to a list of priests credibly accused of sexual misconduct released by the Diocese of San Bernardino in October of 2018, Donat has been permanently banned from ministry in the Diocese of San Bernardino and the Vatican has sentenced him to prayer and penance.
