Vance Zebulon Thorne

Vance Zebulon Thorne was accused of sexual abuse in the early 1970s. After leaving the Los Angeles Archdiocese, he worked in the dioceses of Austin, TX (1961-1971), Jackson, MS (1980-1987), and Trenton, NJ. In 1986 and 1987, at least three civil lawsuits and two criminal indictments were filed in Mississippi. One plaintiff claimed that he was abused by Thorne between 1980-1986 beginning when he was14 years-old at Holy Ghost church in the Jackson diocese. Another alleged abuse at the same parish as a 9-year-old boy. Thorne died in 2004.
