Gerald Chumik is accused of enticing a boy at ages 12 and 15 to perform oral sex during the 1970s in Canada. Canadian authorities attempted to prosecute Chumik in the 1990s, but Chumik fled to the United States. The Franciscans harbored Chumik, a fugitive from justice, behind the walls of the Mission for over two years.
