Catholic Priest

Arthur Harrison

Ordained: 1956

According to a list of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse released by the Diocese of San Jose in October of 2018, the Diocese of San Jose received reports in 1988, 1990, and 2003 that Arthur Harrison sexually abused children at Our Lady of Loretto Parish in Novato, CA, in 1961 and at St. Frances of Cabrini Parish in San Jose, CA, in the mid-1970s. Harrison went on leave in 1989, but was not permanently banned from ministry until 2002. In 2003, Harrison was criminally charged with three felony counts of committing lewd and lascivious acts upon a child. However, later that same year, these charges were dropped when the Supreme Court of the United States deemed the law under which he was charged, which extended the statute of limitations in some sex offense cases, unconstitutional. He died in 2006.
