Hernan Toro
Ordained: 1956
Incardinated in the Archdiocese of Popayan in Colombia, Hernan Toro served at parishes in California throughout the 1970s and 1980s. In 1983, he was convicted of sexual misconduct with a child and became a registered sex offender. Despite this conviction, Toro continued to serve at parishes in Morgan Hill and Palo Alto, CA. Toro was permanently banned from ministry in 1990 and retired that year. When the Diocese of San Jose released a list of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse in October of 2018, the 90-year-old Toro was facing six charges of felony molestation in Santa Clara County stemming from the abuse of two young girls that allegedly occurred from 2011-2015.
