On January 2, 2019, the Diocese of Monterey released a list of 30 clergymen who have been “credibly accused” of sexually abusing children. Edward Crews was listed by the diocese as a deceased priest against whom “plausible” allegations of sexual abuse have since surfaced. Specifically, the diocese acknowledged that it received reports of sexual abuse involving Crews in 2002 arising out of an incident occurring in 1954.
