Franklin Buckman
Ordained:
Franklin Buckman allegedly sexually abused at least three children between 1962 and 1981. The alleged abuse occurred between 1964-67 at St. Barbara Church in Santa Ana and between 1977-84 at St. Polycarp Church in Stanton. In 1984, Buckman resigned one of the largest parishes in the diocese, St. Polycarp’s in Stanton “because of the burden of administration.” However, it was later revealed that he resigned because of alleged abuse allegations. Buckman went “on assignment” in 1985 to the Diocese of Baker, a rural area encompassing the Klamath Indian Reservation in southern Oregon. Buckman stayed “on assignment” there for the next 17 years until his removal from the ministry in 2002. Buckman’s status with the church is a ” Life of Prayer and Penance.”
