Franklin Buckman

Father Franklin Buckman was first named on a list of priests credibly accused of sexual abuse in 2004. The abuse allegedly occurred from 1962-1984 at St. Polycarp in Stanton, CA, as well as at other churches in both the Diocese of Orange and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In 1985, he was transferred to the Diocese of Baker in OR. He was removed from ministry in 2002. In response to questions as to his whereabouts in 2004, officials with the Diocese of Orange replied that he had retired and moved to Oregan at that time. As of 2005, the Diocese of Orange had reportedly paid $1,959,700 to settle lawsuits regarding sexual abuse allegedly perpetrated by Buckman.
