John Kohnke
Ordained: 1937
Documents released by the Los Angeles Archdiocese include memos about John Kohnke’s arrests for lewd conduct in the bathroom of a North Hollywood park in 1970, and a police report filed in 1974 after Kohnke was found engaging in oral sex with a 16-year-old boy alongside a rural road in Laguna Hills. No criminal charges were filed against him for this conduct.
Even after his arrests, Kohnke worked in multiple parishes in WI, MT, PA, TX and CA. Kohnke died in 1987 and was named in a civil lawsuit in 2003.
