John W. Wishard
Ordained: 1962
John W. Wishard pleaded no contest in 1980 to a felony charge of oral copulation on a minor and was sentenced to five years’ probation. He was ordered to get psychiatric treatment and prohibited from being in the presence of minors without a supervising adult. A judge terminated Wishard’s probation in 1982, the felony was reduced to a misdemeanor in 1991. He returned to active ministry in 1987. He was assigned to parishes with elementary schools nearby at St. Genevieve in Panorama City and at St. Mary of the Assumption in Santa Maria. Wishard retired in 1997 or 1998. He was laicized in 2002.
