Joseph Pacheco

A 2003 lawsuit accused Joseph Pacheco of sexually abusing an altar boy between 1965 and 1968 while Pacheco was serving at parishes in Tulare and Merced, California. Bishop John Steinbock eventually apologized to the victim and stated that the diocese had since learned that Pacheco had, in fact, abused several other boys over the years. The diocese settled the lawsuit for $750,000. Pacheco died in 1992.
