On January 2, 2019, the Diocese of Monterey released a list of 30 clergymen who have been “credibly accused” of sexually abusing children. Juan Guillen was listed by the diocese as a previously accused priest who is now acknowledged to have worked for the diocese when the abuse occurred. Specifically, the diocese claims that it received reports of sexual abuse involving Guillen in 2003 arising out of an incident occurring in 1992.
