On January 2, 2019, the Diocese of Monterey released a list of 30 clergymen who have been “credibly accused” of sexually abusing children. Raul Carvajal was listed as a credibly accused priest not previously released to the public. The diocese acknowledged that it received reports of sexual abuse involving Carvajal arising out of incidents between 1984-1985. Carvajal reportedly had his priestly faculties removed since then.
