Scott McCarthy
Ordained:
On January 2, 2019, the Diocese of Monterey released a list of 30 clergymen who have been “credibly accused” of sexually abusing children. Scott McCarthy was listed as a credibly accused priest not previously released to the public. The diocese acknowledged that it received reports of sexual abuse involving McCarthy in 2002 arising out of an incident occurring in 1976. The diocese had originally labeled the 2002 allegations as non-credible, but has since reversed its position and removed McCarthy’s priestly faculties.
