Thomas E. Havel
Ordained: 1963
Thomas E. Havel was ordained into the Los Angeles Archdiocese, but became a Marianist priest in 1972. In 1997, after attending medical school, Havel requested laicization and became a psychiatrist.
At least two victims have come forward accusing Havel of sexual abuse — one in 2002 and another in 2003. One of these victims reported to the Archdiocese’s Victim Assistance Ministry that she was molested by Havel from 1968 through 1973, when she was age 14 through 19, while he was at St. Philip the Apostle parish and after he joined the Marianist Order in 1969.
