On January 2, 2019, the Diocese of Monterey released a list of 30 clergymen who have been “credibly accused” of sexually abusing children. Luis Garcia was listed as a credibly accused seminarian not previously released to the public. The diocese acknowledged that it received reports of sexual abuse involving Garcia in 2009 arising out of an incident occurring in 1982.
